Matthews 20:26-28

“Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:26-28

“Not to be served, but to serve” needs to be my mind set if I want to reflect Christ. These verses remind me of John 13 where Jesus washes the disciples feet. Knowing that Peter would deny Him and that Judas would betray Him, He still chose to love them and serve them. That is what I pray to be like. So many times when people offend me or hurt me my first reaction is to tell myself to never help them with anything again. This often happens with my sister and I when we get into arguments. It is sad how much my heart shrinks for people when they do me wrong. That is not what we are called to do. I want to have the same love for the people that hurt me and the people who love me. God will always give us more than we deserve so I pray that I can still serve with a joyful heart even when I don’t want to. God puts people in our lives for a reason. Some for better reasons than others, but we are called to love each person and be an example of God’s love towards them. I grew up surrounded by a lot of unbelievers and being that example would be hard at times, but God always revealed Himself faithful. Nothing makes us better than the person next to us because God loves us all the same. We are all sinners and we all mess up so I pray that instead of looking to my left and right and comparing myself, I will turn my eyes to God and seek Him alone. My application is to pray to be more like Christ and to find joy in my lowest points this week.

Tozer it says that, “God gives, but does not give away.” That hit me because I thought of how many times I’ve gotten puffed up by the strength He has given me in areas and then got pushed back down and humbled. July 27, 2017 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  Ephesians 5:15-17 Bringing glory to God is what we should accomplish each day. Are days are wasted when we spend them on ourselves and our own needs. We are here to seek in God’s will and it may be hard to understand sometimes, but we need to continue striving after what God has for us. I tend to get so caught up here at IGNITE fulfilling my own needs that I feel will bring me closer to God. Thinking that my personal growth can come before me reaching out to others needs. Discovering that it only makes me feel weaker than before. God has already prepared us to do what He is calling us to do, all we need to do is trust in Him. Field Time Week 9

“Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord; Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in Heaven. We have transgressed and rebelled; You have not pardoned.”  Lamentations 3:40-42 It’s so easy to lose sight on our own hearts when we are too busy looking at everyone else’s. So easy to judge people’s hearts by their actions, but where’s my heart in that? I never deserved the right to do that nor will I ever. So many times when I do it shows how wicked my own heart is. Heart checks need to be an everyday thing. Letting God search my heart and revealing to me how dirty it is can be rough, but it can also be a beautiful thing. It is beautiful because He doesn’t want me to stay there. He knows my heart and He knows my desire is to love and honor Him so when He does reveal the wickedness in my heart I know that He is listening.
