Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
James 3:13-17

Wisdom is not based off how much you know. Wisdom takes place in the heart not the brain. When I think of a wise person I think of an old man who has been through and seen it all. Wisdom is not perfection. Wisdom calls for a lot of mistakes and a lot of lessons learned. In our trials we gain insight on who God is. He takes our messy situations and turns them into undeserving grace to reveal to us how amazing He is and how He can get us through anything. I never looked at God that way before I got here. I always thought when I messed up I needed to deal with the consequences and keep it to myself. When we submit it everything God has for us, we receive His purity, His peace, His gentleness, His mercy and all the fruit that gains wisdom to our hearts. We just need to lay it all down at His feet. Breaking down is not always the prettiest sight because we tend to hold in so much pride to think we have it all together, but in that breaking, God restores us by picking up the pieces and giving us a new abundant life. My application is to pray out loud with a group of girls this week to let go of the pride that holds me back.
